Plowing with Bill

Jared Nash was a Ridgefield, Connecticut farmer in the middle of the 19th Century. Like many people of his era, he kept a diary. In the sparest of terms, he describes his and his family's agricultural and social activities. In the process he leaves us with many insights into a 19th Century farming family and probably into what life was like here even in the 18th Century.

The diary covers the 730 days of 1865 and 1866, and has been extensively annotated.
